Alternatives is kicking off its Annual Community Campaign this December. This campaign raises funds which go directly into Alternatives programs; helping people with disabilities lead successful and productive lives. We know that with the right skills, supports and a little enthusiasm, everyone, despite the challenges they face, can have a successful community life. more

As a community volunteer it’s hard to keep up with Donald Roy. Donald is an active member of the board of Uxbridge First Holiday Night Committee, volunteers with Alternatives during the Valley Friendship Tour, during plays and at Alternatives’ Farmers Market. He’s been involved with Meals on Wheels and is part of the Blackstone Valley Self Advocacy Committee. more

The Recovery Steering Committee held its annual Mental Health Awareness Month event on Wednesday, May 12th. This event, titled “Hopes, Dreams, and Recovery are Real,” was held at the Worcester Public Library and was held in partnership with the Recovery Learning Community of Worcester. more

ince 1949, May has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Month. It is a time designated to raise our awareness of the need to look after our mental well being. To mark the occasion of Mental Health Awareness Month, Alternatives and North Central Human Services have sponsored a bookmark design contest with 5th and 6th graders in schools within the Agency's Central Massachusetts service area. more

A Fun Day for a Great Cause! more

Alternatives held its 33rd annual Thank You reception this past week. Over 600 people attended the reception which honors the achievements of individuals and organizations who have played significant roles as staff members, individuals served or partners of Alternatives during the past year. This year, 27 awards were given out in 11 categories such as Outstanding Achievement, Leadership, and Teamwork. Longevity awards were also given out during the evening. more
